You’ve probably already heard of the Bourne and Hollingsworth Group which brought us the likes of The Prohibition/Blitz Party. The busy duo behind the events have now moved on to open a restaurant and bar – cue Bourne and Hollingsworth Buildings. The recently-opened venue is located in a plush tree-lined area of Clerkenwell, situated just a short walk from Exmouth Market. The building interior is a stunning combination of nostalgic elegance and modern finishes including a grand conservatory, lots of plants and an airy decor.
There is an option to add bottomless cocktails to your brunch which can work out at as a valuable way to keep the drinks flowing. Choose from bottomless Bellinis at £16 or Bloody Marys at £15. These can be refilled as many times as you like but you’ll need to order from your table.
Now that the drinks are sorted, onto the food. The brunch menu serves up an array of favourites including a full English breakfast, French toast, crispy potato hash, and eggs cooked in all sorts of wonderful ways. I opted for the crispy potato hash served with poached duck egg, chorizo and avocado which came in at £9. My only complaint is that it was over too quickly! The chorizo was soft and tender and unlike any that I’ve attempted to cook at home. The eggs were rich and sweet with an indulgent egg yolk, and the avocado provided a creamy balance for a brunch full of delicious flavours. The gourmet late morning feast was the perfect weekend treat and made all the better by enjoying it in such an accommodating venue. While the concept of drinking numerous cocktails before noon seemed like a bad idea, it was actually a refreshing way to beat those Sunday blues.
And here’s us enjoying our bottomless Bellini – Cheers!
